PennDOT Projects may impact Student Move-in Traffic

Students at Penn State University will begin moving in for the fall semester as early as August 11 (official move-in day set for August 17). As part of the Atherton Street project, drivers can expect the long-term/far left lane closure to remain in place between West Aaron Drive and West North Hills Place. There will be two lanes in and two lanes out when the contractor is not working and two lanes in and one lane out when work is taking place. No other closures will take place on Friday, August 17.

Outlying areas that may be impacted are:

On I-99 northbound near the Valley Vista on-ramp, night work will take place Sunday and Monday, August 12 and 13 and Wednesday and Thursday, August 15 and 16. Lanes will be clear during the day, but intermittent closures may occur for guide rail placement during daylight hours.

On Route 26/College Avenue from East Calder Way to Elmwood Street, drivers can expect overnight work tonight and overnight paving from Sunday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 15.

On Route 26 at the Bellefonte interchange, drivers can expect overnight milling tonight, August 9 and 10 and overnight paving Thursday night into Friday morning, August 16 to 17.

PennDOT encourages drivers to “Know before they go” and to check conditions by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA is free, available 24 hours a day, and provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 860 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.

PennDOT thanks drivers for their patience and courtesy and reminds drivers to proceed with caution, buckle up, and stay alert for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists, and roadway workers.
